For our last pre-Zoom kindergarten hurrah, we spent two nights at the Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point. It was my first time checking it out since it changed ownership (it was previously a St. Regis), and it did not disappoint.
We started with an amazing oceanfront lunch at the Monarch Beach Club. The catch of the day was so good that I returned for more fresh fish the following day. The fries were some of the best I’ve had in years.
Lily couldn’t wait to get to the pool. We traveled back and forth between the kids and general pools. Lily was thrilled to show off her new swimsuit (courtesy of a Janie and Jack sale). There were lots of other families soaking up the last of summer, so Lily was able to make some socially distant friends.
All in all, it was the perfect lazy weekend to close out summer. We spent our time between the beach club and the pool. The beach club is a fantastic guest perk. The staff sets up chairs and umbrellas in the perfect, spaced out spot. Restrooms and the Beach Club were a short walk away. It was blazing hot, so we definitely appreciated the relief.
Since Lily had such a great experience, I think we might try it again next summer. Although, summer 2021 feels like 100 years away…
